Stefania Mazzitelli, PhD

Stefania Mazzitelli is born in Tropea (VV) on September 7, 1979.

2005 - Visiting student at the Department of Materials of ETH Hönggerberg  working on a collaborative scientific program with the group of Prof. Peter Walde (ETH).

2007-2008 - Research fellow at the University of Perugia, Dep. of Chemistry and Pharmaceutics, Laboratory of Biomaterials and Bioencapsulation directed by Prof. Claudio Nastruzzi. Working on the production of different micro-nanoparticles for  Lab-on-a-chip applications.

2008 - Visiting researcher at the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, Laboratory directed by Prof. S. Badylak, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA 15260 USA.

2012 - Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, University of Ferrara.

2012-Present Post-Doc position at the Department of Life Sciences and Biotecnology, University of Ferrara and Perugia, Italy.


Research activity

Since 2006, Stefania Mazzitelli started her activity at the Laboratory of Biomaterials & Bioencapsulation, early at the Perugia University and later at the Ferrara Univerisity.

The research actitivy of Stefania  Mazzitelli focuses on the development of delivery systems for drugs, biological response modifiers, biotech products and cosmetics, In particular, she has developed experience in the preparation and characterization of innovative formulations based on liposomes, microspheres, microcapsules, lipospheres and microemulsions. Furthermore, Dr Mazzitelli is involved in cell encapsulation and transplantation protocols using natural, synthetic and engineered biomaterials and various cell types (Sertoli cells, osteoblasts, stem cells, etc.).

Stefania Mazzitelli has published more than 30 papers (as reported in ISI Web of knowledge) and orally presented more than 20 contributions to national and international conferences.
